I have a BA in English from Westmont College, an MA in theology and creative writing from Regent College, and an MFA from Seattle Pacific University.
My essays have appeared in various journals and anthologies, and I wrote Rookie Dad: Thoughts on First-Time Fatherhood.
I believe “that the story of any one of us is in some measure the story of all of us”—a phrase of Frederick Buechner’s I’m fond of stealing.
My wife and I have lived in Southern California, Austria, and British Columbia, and now we make our home in central Oregon with our two boys. When not thinking about words, I enjoy pickup soccer, Oregon’s craft-brew scene, and rooting for the Timbers, as well as writing bios that make me seem cool.
